irene and Seaton were wonderful neighbours to my Mumand Dad for so many years on Greenleach Lane.I have so many happy memories of shared parties and Christmases and I know when my son was little and spent time every week in Worsley when I was at work, he enjoyed and benifitted from the experience of such a lovely community on Greenleach Lane. When Mum moved after Dad died, their friendship endured and I think sustained them both through the difficult years of living alone into old age. After Mum had the stroke which put her in a nursing home in south Manchester for eight years, Irene made the tricky journey across town almost every week to see her. Courageous, doughty and determined. And hugely appreciated. It was an enormous comfort to Mum and real support to me. I always enjoyed our chats sharing memories and ideas and I never felt the difference in our ages made the slightest difference. I loved how striaghtforward honest and direct Irene was. Her beautiful paintings of our old house on Greenleach lane hang above my fireplace and I have one of her little sketchbooks full of lovely delicate drawings and ideas which I treasure. She will be bery much missed
